Alan G. Votaw, 37, has joined the other industry experts who head Panalpina’s in-house competence centres for each of the core industry groups. Alan, an American citizen who joined Panalpina in 2002, has held several managing positions within the Group, among them key account manager for one of the biggest global customers. Alan has a vast experience in areas such as customer service, supply chain management and automotive logistics.
“I am delighted to have won Alan G. Votaw for this important function” explains Sandro Knecht, member of the Panalpina Executive Board and responsible for Marketing & Sales and Supply Chain Management. “Alan has consistently demonstrated his industry specific know-how, leadership competences and an extraordinary customer focus. He has all the pre-requisites to implement tailor-made solutions and generate added value for our existing and potential customers”, Sandro Knecht adds. “The automotive industry is of highest strategic importance for Panalpina and I am fully convinced that Alan will help us to leverage and expand our automotive customer base and product portfolio on a global scale!”
Alan G. Votaw is also looking forward to his new responsibilities. “The companies of the automotive industry are facing big challenges to generate sustainable profitable growth in an on-going difficult market environment. I am looking forward to helping them achieve this goal by providing professional logistics products and customer oriented solutions”, he elaborates.
The pressure on the producers of vehicles and accessories is still very high, although some positive signs are visible in the aftermath of the financial and economic crisis which has hit the automotive industry very hard. This in turn provides the industry partners such as transport and logistics providers with big challenges. For many years, Panalpina has been one of the most important providers of logistics services for automotive companies who can continue to rely on Panalpina’s know-how in the future.
