Panalpina has always reported on its sustainability work in its Annual Report, prepared in alignment with the previous G3 version of the GRI guidelines. But as its global sustainability initiatives have grown in importance, a standalone report was deemed necessary to highlight its continued progress in the field.
Over the years, Panalpina has continuously expanded its work in sustainability management, performance and reporting. The company’s PanGreen initiative, which drives its global sustainability efforts, has introduced novel capabilities regarding greenhouse gas management and reduction programs, both for Panalpina’s operations as well as for its customers.
Panalpina is the only logistics company in the world to achieve global OHSAS 18001 certification and when combined with its ISO 14001 certification, it has a solid foundation to continually manage its sustainability performance long term.
Panalpina’s 2013 Corporate Sustainability Report discusses metrics and performance. The G4 edition of the GRI guidelines demand increased transparency and disclosure of sustainability related information in great detail, depending on whether the topic was relevant to the company.
