    Panalpina continues to gain ground in climate disclosure program

    Panalpina has received its highest Carbon Disclosure Project supply chain program score to date, reaching a score of 94 points out of 100. Furthermore, during the UN Climate Talks in Paris earlier this month, it was announced that Panalpina is one of 114 international companies that have committed to set science-based emissions targets as part of a global effort to mitigate climate change.

    Panalpina flies UNICEF relief to Burundi

    For the third consecutive year, UNICEF and Panalpina have joined forces to fly much-needed relief goods to an African country where a recurring crisis is taking a heavy toll on society and its weakest members: children. Violence and a shortage of essential drugs pose major risks to their health. In the morning hours, a Panalpina chartered cargo aircraft landed in Burundi with 70 tons of primary medical care goods on board.

    Panalpina to acquire Airflo, a specialized freight forwarder for flowers and vegetables, from Dutch Flower Group

    International freight forwarding and logistics company Panalpina is to acquire a majority stake in Airflo, a company based in Kenya and the Netherlands specialized in the export handling of flowers and vegetables. Airflo is part of Dutch Flower Group (DFG), the world’s largest flower and plant trader. The acquisition reflects Panalpina’s continued expansion in Africa and its increasing focus on the perishables business.

    Panalpina and JDA help customers increase asset velocity

    Three years ago, Panalpina announced its intention to deploy a single warehouse management system (WMS) across all of its logistics facilities throughout the world. The roll-out of the RedPrairie – now JDA – WMS is progressing ahead of schedule thanks to Panalpina’s experts in all regions and a specially developed and unique fast deployment model. To date, JDA WMS has been rolled out at more than 30 Panalpina sites globally – enabling Panalpina to optimize service levels and inventory for customers.

    Panalpina keeps consolidated profit stable

    International freight forwarding and logistics company Panalpina achieved a stable consolidated profit of CHF 69.3 million (currency adjusted: CHF 75.8 million or +9.5%) in the first nine months of 2015 as headwinds in oil and gas and a very soft air freight market persisted. Group gross profit decreased 6% to CHF 1,107.3 million (currency adjusted: CHF 1,177.0 million or 0%), while EBIT decreased 2% to CHF 92.4 million (currency adjusted: CHF 102.7 million or +9%). EBIT was up in Ocean Freight and positive in Logistics (compared to a loss from January to September 2014) but down in Air Freight.

    Panalpina enables circular supply chain with reverse logistics for electronics

    Panalpina sees reverse logistics as a strategic area for growth. To complement its reverse logistics offering in the technology sector, Panalpina has entered into a strategic alliance with Hong Kong-based company Spread Logistics. Working closely together, the two companies now pick up faulty consumer electronics at origin, do failure analyses and – if need be – return them to the original manufacturer in Mainland China. The customer gains visibility of all return materials in the supply chain and can make data-based decisions on the reuse, repair, disposal or even redesign of its products.

    Panalpina reports stable profits in slow market environment

    International freight forwarding and logistics company Panalpina has kept profitability stable in the first half of 2015 despite a challenging environment. While the group’s gross profit decreased 5% (adjusted at constant currency rates: +2%) to CHF 736.1 million, EBIT and consolidated profit remained stable, reaching CHF 60.4 million (+0.4%; adjusted: +7%) and CHF 45.3 million (+3%; adjusted: +10%), respectively. EBIT was up in Ocean Freight but down in Air Freight. Logistics reported a positive EBIT of CHF 1.5 million for the half-year, after a loss of CHF 4.3 million for the same period of last year.

    Panalpina appoints new Executive Board members

    Panalpina, one of the world’s leading supply chain solutions providers, promotes Andy Weber (55) to the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) as of July 1, 2015. At the same time, the company announces that Ralf Morawietz (48) will assume the position of Chief Information Officer (CIO). He takes over from Rod Angwin (55) who will leave the company for personal reasons during the course of the year.
