Lean is a never-ending journey with the customer always in mind; it is about continuous improvement for the benefit of our customers.

 

Panalpina’s lean initiative Logistics Excellence, in short LogEx, brings together a collective set of goals and empowers our people on the ground (not management) to achieve operational excellence. LogEx encourages local teams to develop practical tools and techniques to implement lean processes, giving them the flexibility to be pro-active and find solutions that are applicable to their local needs and customers. Learned lessons are shared across borders. Rolled out in 2011, LogEx is a global initiative to instill lean principles and customer focus into the DNA of the company’s entire operation.

 

The LogEx program has the shape of a pyramid that helps our facilities and employees build a solid ground, upon which they can improve and mature. Three levels were created, reflecting the needs of our operations and customers. Strong foundations can be built with the bronze level, the basis of the pyramid. Increased customer focus and value-added services are key to achieving the silver level and, finally, proof of sustainability is what will get an operation to gold.
