 | According to the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Gerhard Fischer, the appointment of Monika Ribar followed a stringent selection process. “The Nomination Committee of the Board of Directors did not succumb to outside pressure. Supported by a reputable executive search agency, both internal and a variety of external candidates were identified and included in the selection process.“ The Chairman acknowledged that Monika Ribar had been a central candidate right from the beginning. “Monika Ribar has built a career at Panalpina over the past 15 years, of which she has been on the Executive Board for five years. She has intensively tackled all aspects of the transport and logistics business and has an impressive track record in various central group functions. As CFO, she played an important part in Panalpina’s IPO. Further, she rapidly secured investors’ confidence and the Company’s credibility following the unfortunate incident in January this year.“
A strong personality with intensive industry knowledge In her previous positions as Head of Controlling, Head of IT (CIO) and subsequently Chief Financial Officer she has impressively proved on several occasions that she is best qualified to efficiently handle the Group’s complex requirements. Her external board of directors memberships prove that her personality and competence is also acknowledged by other companies. Monika Ribar is a manager who quickly and efficiently analyses and consolidates complex issues and consequently transforms them into target and market-geared solutions.
“I’m enthusiastic about this appointment and this demanding challenge. This is even more accentuated by the fact that I will be leading a prosperous and excellently positioned company,“ declared Monika Ribar. For more than 50 years, Panalpina has set industry benchmarks. “This trend will also continue in the future. It is my goal, in close cooperation with my colleagues on the Executive Board and the regional and country organizations, to strengthen Panalpina’s market position in a rapidly changing environment by bringing in new ideas and by consequently implementing decisions,” stressed Monika Ribar.
Taking office in October 2006 In order to safeguard the necessary continuity at the CFO level within the first year since the IPO, it is expected that Monika Ribar will take office as CEO on 1 October 2006. By this date, the Nomination Committee intends to appoint Monika Ribar’s successor as CFO. The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Gerhard Fischer, will continue at the helm of the Executive Board until Monika Ribar officially takes office as CEO.
